The new systems will be approximately one-quarter the size and weight of the company’s first-generation systems, and are designed to spearhead AtCor Medical’s push into the $US500 million global specialist clinical market.

The lightweight, portable SphygmoCor systems assist evaluation of cardiovascular status and management of patient care by medical specialists, particularly cardiologists, hypertension specialists, nephrologists and endocrinologists. The new systems have a smaller footprint than an average laptop, and can be conveniently used in clinical settings such as hospital bedsides, clinical examination rooms, emergency medical theatres and mobile screening vans.

Duncan Ross, CEO of AtCor Medical, said: The lightweight SphygmoCor retains all the features of the earlier model, and adds heart rate variability testing. These portable systems will allow clinicians to perform central blood pressure assessments wherever they treat their patients. The technology has been enhanced to attract specialists that wanted smaller, easier-to-use systems.
